Zoe became a true and devoted student of Yoga during a trip to India following her graduation from UVA.  During her time at the Integral Yoga Ashram in South India Zoe completed the first of her many formal teacher training programs where she was introduced to the practice of Yoga as a lifestyle.  From that time forward, she has committed herself to a dedicated and consistent attempt at living her life in line with the teachings. As a fiercely committed vegan and raw food enthusiast, Zoe emphasizes the importance of a healthy body in order for the mind to have the opportunity to become peaceful.
In the early years of her practice Zoe was very involved with Integral Yoga and the teachings of Sri Sw Satchidananda.  She completed the Raja Yoga (philosophy) training as well as the intermediate Hatha training in Yogaville (Satchidananda Ashram, Va) after returning from her training in India.  During this time Zoe was invited to the Ashram as staff for the basic and Raja Yoga training courses, as well as numerous workshops.  Zoe still thinks of Yogaville as her spiritual home, being the inspiration for her life as an aspiring Yogini.
While in training in Yogaville, Zoe was introduced to Dharma Mittra, one of the world’s most renowned and beloved Yoga Masters.  Inspired by Dharmaji’s loving personality and vigorous vinyasa style, Zoe decided to branch out from her Integral Yoga practice.  In 2008 she participated in his rigorous advanced training program; she and AJ are currently the only teachers in Hampton Roads to have been personally, formally trained by Sri Dharma.  Zoe speaks often of how grateful she is to have had the opportunity to study with such a great master.
After a year of devoted Dharma Yoga practice, Zoe found new inspiration in the Ashtanga Yoga method.  During her time in India, Zoe had the honor of meeting Sri K Pattabhi Jois and watching a Led Primary Series class at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute.  Although she was deeply involved in the Integral Yoga community at the time, she had a secret desire to learn this fluid practice.  It was not until the winter of 2009 that she was ready for this disciplined and challenging system.  Today, Zoe is a dedicated student of Ashtanga, practicing into the second series 6 days a week.  She has trained under the guidance of Tim Miller, as well as a number of other authorized and certified Ashtanga teachers. Zoe considers Kino’s MacGregor her primary teacher, travelling to the Miami Life Center every 4-6 months for instruction and guidance.  Zoe’s greatest ambition is to travel regularly to Mysore to practice with Kino’s teacher, and head of the Ashtanga Yoga organization, Sharath Rangaswamy.
Zoe moved to Va Beach in 2008 to be a part of Atma Bodha Yoga Studio.  She loves to teach and practice with A.J. and the wonderful people at Atma Bodha, as well as at the other supportive and welcoming studios in the area.  Zoe looks forward to any opportunity to practice with all of the teachers who have inspired her in her studies, especially Kino, Dharmaji, and Swami Asokananda.
