Sheetal Ajmani
M.D. & RYT 200
Sheetal feels blessed to have been born into the culture from which yoga originated. Growing up, chanting and attending kirtans was just part of her family’s routine. She always felt drawn to kirtans, feeling an unexplainable sense of peace from the vibrations that can only be created by a group of people joining together to create positive energy from sound. She was first introduced to the physical asana (postures) practice of yoga by her grandfather during a visit to India when she was 12 years old. Her grandfather, a true yogi who devoted the last few years of his life to the study of yoga while living in an ashram, taught Sheetal her very first sun salutation. It wasn’t until she was in medical school that Sheetal revisited the physical practice of yoga. She began by attending yoga classes at her local gym as a means to heal her running injuries and balance her physical exercise routine. Little did she know, yoga would provide her with more than just healing and balance at a physical level. With the continued practice of yoga, Sheetal found the emotional and spiritual healing needed to carry her through the often stressful and enduring times of her medical training and residency in pediatrics. Upon the completion of her medical training and residency, she found the time was right to devote energy into a yoga teacher training program. It was at that time that she discovered Atma Bodha Yoga Studio. From the very first class, Sheetal knew that she had found a home for her yoga practice. She went on to complete her 200 hour teacher training at Atma Bodha Yoga Studio in 2010. For Sheetal, classes at Atma Bodha Yoga Studio provide the perfect balance of the many different aspects of yoga including chanting, asanas (physical postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation. Through her teaching, Sheetal hopes to help others discover the peace within themselves and their connection with the universe within which we reside. She also hopes that yoga can be a source of healing for others, as it has been and continues to be in her life. She has also recently taken an interest in learning more about ayurveda and yoga therapy. Sheetal welcomes you to join her in the practice of yoga, and would feel honored by your presence in her class.
